Noted actor and Rhinebeck resident Hilarie Burton was chosen as an honoree at the 2017 Moves Magazine Power Women Gala, held on November 11 in New York City. Burton was recognized for her commitment to helping children through her work with Astor Services for Children & Families, which provides behavioral and educational services for children and their families in the Hudson Valley and the Bronx.
Actors and married couple, Hilarie Burton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who have a home in Rhinebeck, NY, show off plans for the first phase of the renovation of the Astor Service’s residential treatment center in the spring 2017.
In April of this year, Burton, along with her husband, actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, provided critical hands-on assistance in renovating 10 of the 44 beds at Astor’s residential treatment center (RTC) in Rhinebeck. Burton, Morgan and dozens of volunteers helped develop finish selections and designs, secure pro-bono contractors and coordinate donated goods for the non-profit’s 57-year-old facility.
Burton also participated in Astor’s fall 2016 and 2017 Ghost Stories benefit galas and performances, which raised money to support the first and upcoming second phase of the renovation project, including about $70,000 during the 2017 event.

Burton was one of 25 women honored by Moves Magazine at its Power Women Gala, an annual celebration of women from all spheres who embody the magazine’s commitment to women’s rights, social fairness and equal opportunity.
