CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cure Media Group, LLC, the nation’s leading consumer digital and print media enterprise focused on providing indispensable information for every stage of the cancer experience, has published a book titled Mom’s Genes, writtenby Shannon Pulaski. Mom’s Genes, which debuts today, is the first of a series that aims to help parents start a conversation with their children about their family’s health history.

“As genetic information and testing becomes more readily available, it will have a tremendous impact on medical decisions going forward. Parents will need to consider how to effectively share this information with their children as it will play a role in both their own lives as well as their children’s lives. We are on a mission to encourage children to learn about how their family’s health history can impact their own health. With a goal to create educated patients in the future, Mom’s Genes serves as a stepping stone for young ones to easily grasp sophisticated concepts in an interactive and playful manner,” said Pulaski.

Using a natural tone and interactive illustrations, Mom’s Genes acts as a starting point for parents to introduce the concept of familial genetic predispositions and encourages their children to be proactive about their health and wellness at a young age. The book also includes interactive elements such as a search and find game and a simple family tree for young children.

Shannon H. Pulaski is an attorney, author, and a patient advocate. At the age of 28, Pulaski decided to dedicate her efforts to education and advocacy for patients after learning that she carried a gene mutation that greatly increases the risk of developing cancer. She volunteers as an Educational Ambassador and a PinkPal for Bright Pink, a nonprofit advocacy organization focused on early detection and prevention of breast and ovarian cancers, and she also serves on the Young Leadership Council for The Basser Center for BRCA at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania. Pulaski holds a B.A. in Communications from Boston College and a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law.

Mom’s Genes is a picture book geared towards young children. Future editions of the series will grow with the child and will focus on specific genetic predispositions. Mom’s Genes is available for purchase in both print and as an e-book. To purchase a copy please visit Amazon at http://amzn.com/B07FP49Y3T.
