DLA Piper is pleased to announce that co-Chair of the global Telecom practice, Nancy Victory, has been named a Law360 MVP. In its profile of her announcing the award, the editors highlighted her work as one of the two leads on the DLA Piper team with a "crucial advisory role" as regulatory counsel representing T-Mobile US, Inc. and Deutsche Telekom AG in the announced merger with Sprint Corporation. This is one of the largest telecommunications mergers of the decade and is subject to numerous federal and state regulatory reviews, as well as a number of international regulatory reviews. The DLA team is advising T-Mobile and DT regarding Federal Communications Commission approval and various state and international reviews. The team is also representing T-Mobile in CFIUS and national security matters related to the transaction.
In her practice, Victory has extensive experience in the full range of communications policy and transactional issues affecting telephony and wireless providers, satellite operators, submarine cable operators, equipment manufacturers, new technology companies and their investors. She is particularly well known for her broad transactional experience, having taken a lead role in securing FCC approval for transactions ranging from small license transfers to the largest communications mergers of the last two decades. She is also sought out for her work on FCC enforcement matters and non-U.S. ownership issues. In recent years, she has increasingly assisted clients understand the regulatory implications and business implications of new technologies and services, including connected car and IoT products and services.
She is a former Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information. Victory has chaired several high profile FCC advisory committees and is currently a member of the State Department Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information Policy.
