DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Tom K. Ara, co-chair of the firm's Entertainment Transactions and Finance practices, has been named to the Hollywood Reporter's2019 Power Lawyers list, which highlights the 100 top attorneys in Hollywood.

The Hollywood Reporter recognized Ara for his notable accomplishments in the past year, including his representation of Disney in connection with a key part of its US$71.3 billion acquisition of 21st Century Fox and its television business, as well as his representation of Korean media conglomerate CJ Entertainment in various media joint ventures. Ara's other accomplishments over the past year included his representation of DMG Entertainment in the acquisition of the largest independent comic book company in the world, as well as Cirque de Soleil founder Guy Laliberte's newest venture Reflector Entertainment on numerous transactions in the launch of its multi-platform, multi-media property "Unknown Nine."

Ara has been involved in a multitude of transactions throughout the world in both traditional media and emerging technologies, representing media companies, financiers and industry participants of all types in financing and strategic industry transactions. Ara has successfully counseled his clients in connection with billions of dollars of complex financing, corporate and M&A transactions involving some of the most successful feature film and television franchises, as well as iconic comic book properties. As one of the early legal pioneers from the West to serve the Asian media and entertainment market, Ara offers valuable insights to his clients, both as a lawyer and as a trustee of the prestigious Washington, DC-based US-Asia Institute.
