Judy Mok, a Ballard Spahr lawyer focusing on complex payments transactions, has been named to the New York Law Journal’s 2019 Rising Stars list.

The Rising Stars awards recognize the New York City region’s most promising lawyers under 40. Submissions are judged by an outside panel of experts.

Ms. Mok has extensive experience negotiating payments transactions for some of the world’s largest retailers and financial institutions. She has advised on an array of complex commercial agreements and strategic partnership agreements for various participants in the payments ecosystem, including financial technology companies. In particular, Ms. Mok has significant experience negotiating and drafting co-branded and private-label credit card agreements, payment network agreements, processing agreements, and portfolio purchase and sale agreements. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Mok served as Senior Payments Counsel for Apple Inc.

She also is an active participant in the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the Asian American Bar Association of New York, and the Minority Corporate Counsel Association.

The winners will be recognized in the New York Law Journal’s upcoming Professional Excellence magazine and honored at the New York Legal Awards event at Tribeca 360 on October 23.
