DLA Piper represented The Shrink Space, a referral management software platform widely used by university counseling centers, students and behavioral health providers, in its recent acquisition by ProtoCall Services, a leading provider of telephonic crisis intervention and behavioral health assessment services.

With a national network of more than 4,000 licensed clinicians, prescribers, groups and treatment centers, The Shrink Space transforms the pen-and-paper referral process into a dynamic collaboration between universities, clients and behavioral health providers. The result is an efficient and secure platform that meets the administrative, regulatory, and care needs of each constituency.

“We were pleased to draw on our cross-practice experience to support The Shrink Space on this transaction and, more importantly, in its mission to improve access to mental health services,” said Adam Ghander, the DLA Piper partner who led the firm’s deal team.

Dr. Aarti Khullar, one of the psychologists who founded The Shrink Space, said, “DLA Piper has been an incredible partner on this journey, scaling with us as we grew the company, needed deep experience on regulatory and privacy issues, and considered strategic transactions.”

In addition to Ghander, the DLA Piper team representing The Shrink Space included partners Nathaniel McKitterick (Silicon Valley) and Anna Spencer (Atlanta); attorney Michael Jamieson (Boston); of counsel Ryan Compton (Washington, DC); and associates Kurtis Weaver (Boston) and James Duchesne (Washington, DC).

With more than 1,000 corporate lawyers globally, DLA Piper helps clients execute complex cross-border transactions seamlessly while supporting clients across all stages of development. The firm has been rated number one in global M&A volume for ten consecutive years, according to Mergermarket.
