The promotions illustrate Kramer Levin’s focus on fostering and developing talent and its commitment to diversity. Over the past two years, 57% of the lawyers whom the firm promoted to partner were women, and 43% were racially diverse.

Alice J. Byowitz skillfully represents mutual funds, distressed investors, indenture trustees and creditor committees in some of the largest, most complex and highest-profile municipal restructurings and corporate reorganizations, both in and out of court. Her clients include OppenheimerFunds/Invesco, Nuveen Asset Management, Franklin Advisers and BlackRock, and she currently represents the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in Hertz Corporation’s bankruptcy. Alice has been recognized as a “Rising Star” in Thomson Reuters’ New York Super Lawyers since 2017 and was on this year’s Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list from Woodward White Inc. She is based in the New York office and has a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. from Princeton University, where she graduated cum laude.
Jonathan D. Goodman is a tenacious deal lawyer who advises clients on corporate matters, with an emphasis on middle-market transactions. He counsels private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies as well as strategic buyers in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalizations and other investment transactions, and has vast experience working on transactions in the financial services, real estate services and insurance brokerage industries, among others. He is based in the New York office and has a J.D. from New York Law School, where he graduated cum laude, and a B.S. from the University of Maryland.
Michael H. Lee works on intellectual property matters, in particular patent litigation involving the computer and electrical arts, as well as post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In addition to being an accomplished intellectual property attorney, Michael has 10 years of engineering experience in the computer industry, having previously worked at Hewlett-Packard, where he was responsible for a wide range of engineering projects, from developing enterprise servers to implementing new e-commerce systems. He is based in the Silicon Valley office and has a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, an M.S. from Santa Clara University, and a B.S. from the University of California, Irvine.
