Tuesday’s Children, the leading nonprofit serving those impacted by the events of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, as well as victims of domestic and international terrorism, announced today the appointment of two new members to its board of directors. They are Mel Tucker, Chief Financial Officer at Century 21 Department Stores, and Robert Smith, Founder of ICV.
Founded in 2001 to promote long-term healing in individuals directly impacted by the events of September 11th, including first responders, Tuesday’s Children has since expanded to support victims of domestic and international terrorism, as well as families of fallen military service men and women.
Mr. Tucker, as graduate of Auburn University and Stanford, is an accomplished finance executive with demonstrated success in leading planning, accounting and financial decision support functions. He is an innovative and decisive leader valued for the ability to translate corporate strategy into actionable plans providing strong leadership to cross-functional teams. Mel cultivates and maintains key relationships with executives, industry professionals, strategic partners, and staff.
Since 2006, Robert Smith has worked for, advised and co-invested with family offices, while serving in capacities that involved sourcing investment opportunities, conducting company and manager due diligence, and raising capital. He is Founder of ICV, Partner of Merchant Liquidity Fund; Senior Advisor to Millenia Music and Chair of the EARTH’S CALL Global Brain Trust / Finance; Senior Advisor for Fundraising and Partnerships to the Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates; and, he serves on the Boards of Childhood Cancer Kids, The Children's Village, and The Harmon Foundation.
