David Kliwinski, CSP, a leader in construction safety with more than 27 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry, has joined STV as vice president and chief health & safety officer.

Kliwinski will be instrumental in directing and maintaining STV’s commitment to developing a culture of health and safety throughout all levels of the firm. He will be based in the firm’s office in Douglassville, PA, and report directly to Milo Riverso, Ph.D., P.E., CCM, president and chief executive officer.

Over the course of his nearly three decades in the industry, Kliwinski has led safety programs for multi-billion-dollar projects and developed safety, health and environmental initiatives for a major engineering and construction firm’s North American business unit. There, he facilitated the deployment of an industry-leading safety certification program for transportation professionals as a pilot program, which has since been developed by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). He is credited with building a culture of safety through goals and objectives that significantly increase the safety performance of senior leadership.

Kliwinski received the Distinguished Service to Safety Award from the National Safety Council in 2014 and went on to serve as the chairman of the Council’s Construction Division through 2016. He is also a member of The National Construction Safety Executive Committee, American Society of Safety Engineers, the Utility and Transportation Contractors Association, and ARTBA. Kliwinski earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in civil engineering from West Virginia University and is a certified safety professional (CSP).
