SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Matthews Asia today announced the appointment of Lindsay Wright as Head of Asia and Global Chief Operating Officer. As the former Co-Head of Investment Management and Head of Distribution, APAC for BNY Mellon, Lindsay has more than 30 years of investment management experience with the majority of that time in leading roles based in Asia Pacific.

In this newly created role, Lindsay will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s Asia-based businesses. Working closely with the CEO and the firm’s management team, she will help develop Matthews’ long-term business strategy and global operating plan as the firm continues to grow to support its existing and growing client base in the region.

Based in Hong Kong, Lindsay will help develop and execute the firm’s long-term strategic plans and assume responsibility for the oversight of its business activities and operations in Asia that contribute to positioning Matthews as a leading Asia investment solutions provider in the region.

Matthews has had a presence in Asia since 2010 when it opened an office in Hong Kong. Earlier in 2018, Matthews established a Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise (WFOE) in Shanghai and is currently evaluating future business opportunities in China.

In addition to the opening of the office in Shanghai, the firm also announced the opening of an office in Singapore which will have an initial focus on portfolio management activities, company research and client service. Over the coming months, Matthews expects to make new distribution and marketing hires in Singapore and Hong Kong that will strengthen its ability to service clients in the region. The opening of two new offices in Asia is consistent with the firm’s global growth strategy and, as the business continues to grow, ensures the firm remains proximate to its clients and continues to deliver exceptional client service.
