In September 2016, while continuing to maintain a busy trial schedule, Philip M. Halpern, managing partner of New York law firm, Collier, Halpern, Newberg & Nolletti, LLP (CHNN), will take a position as adjunct professor at Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in White Plains, NY. Known for his trial advocacy and trial preparation skills (see https://youtu.be/RI7mmDMFiyo), Mr. Halpern will be teaching a course entitled "The Anatomy of Trial Strategy: The Burden of Proof" to students in the Juris Doctor program. In this course, Mr. Halpern will share one of the keys to his success as a trial lawyer: his mastery of the concept of burden of proof as a central, driving element in litigation strategy. The course will offer a comprehensive overview of the applicability of burden of proof to every phase of a commercial litigation. Students will gain from Mr. Halpern's more than three and one-half decades of experience as one of New York's premier trial attorneys.

Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University was founded in 1976. It is renowned for its Environmental Law program, and is the home of the New York State Judicial Institute.

A 1980 graduate of the Juris Doctor program at Elisabeth Haub School of Law, Mr. Halpern has litigated matters throughout New York State and Connecticut for 35 years. With a record of more than eighty (80) reported decisions, his practice focuses on commercial litigation and appeals including: employment litigation; shareholder derivative lawsuits; securities litigation; contract litigation; real estate litigation; fiduciary litigation; and estates litigation. He is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a civil trial advocate and a civil pretrial advocate, and is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a fellow of the New York Bar Foundation, a member of the Office of Court Administration Advisory Committee on Civil Practice and a member of the Board of Visitors at Elisabeth Haub School of Law. He is also a member of the advisory council for the Metropolitan Section of the Professional Golfer's Association and a member of the Executive Board of the Metropolitan Golf Association. Mr. Halpern has authored numerous law journal articles and co-authored the 2-volume Civil Pretrial Proceedings in New York. He has also lectured in continuing legal education programs throughout New York. This is his first position as an adjunct professor.
