Plans Unveiled for Redevelopment of Cass-Gilbert Designed Rail Station in the South Bronx

ABS Partners and Majora Carter Bringing 4,500 Square Feet of Retail Space to Hunts Point

A former rail station is being redeveloped as a destination retail space in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the South Bronx. ABS Partners Real Estate was tapped to exclusively market and lease the 4,500-square- foot property at 910 Hunts Point Avenue. The redevelopment project, to be completed in the third quarter of 2017, is being led by Slayton Ventures and Majora Carter, an urban revitalization strategy consultant and real estate developer who acquired the building from Amtrak in 2016.

“The time is right to create economic transformation that leverages where the community can go from here, and I am proud to get behind this deal,” said Carter.

The project, known as the Hunts Point Railway Station Redevelopment, will present an opportunity for one or multiple specialty food retailers to enter the neighborhood where thousands of people live and work.

“The South Bronx is on the cusp of a major revitalization period. More developers are beginning to recognize the opportunity for both commercial and residential development in the area, creating a definitive need for more retailers to enter the market,” said John Brod, a partner at ABS Partners Real Estate. “910 Hunts Point Avenue offers a well-trafficked opportunity for a retailer to capture this growing market, which is grossly underserved in many regards. The property sits on the corner of Bruckner Boulevard, where thousands walk by every day to and from the nearby 6 Local, 6 Express, 2 and 5 trains.”
