10/9/17

LeFrak City in Corona, Queens is entering a new era as the prolific LeFrak organization returns to its roots with a major $70 million revamp of its eponymous development. This month, LeFrak is unveiling the completed renovation of the master-planned community that the company founded in 1962.

The firm's $70 million reinvestment, which began in 2012, includes substantial infrastructure and amenity upgrades to the mega-development. This signifies a new generation for LeFrak City as the community and surrounding area continue to thrive.

LeFrak City consists of twenty 16-story residential buildings that house approximately 15,000 residents in 4,600 units. The large-scale renovation, master-planned by Rosen Johnson Architects, includes improvements to building lobbies and corridors, green initiatives including solar panels for energy conservation, brand-new parking decks and lighting, apartment upgrades, as well as infrastructure work to the building’s facades, roofs, and boilers.

Extensive landscaping by Matthew Nielsen Landscape Architects has revitalized the community’s courtyards and grounds, with a major revamp of the shared outdoor amenities and recreational facilities including a new resident-only pool, soccer field, tennis court and basketball court, putting green, games tables including ping pong and foosball, picnic tables, and playgrounds.
