Second Annual "City of Tomorrow Real Estate, Architecture and Design Summit" on Jan. 26 & 27, 2018 at 92Y

12/5/17

92nd Street Y and Hundred Stories today announce that the 2018 “City of Tomorrow: Real Estate, Architecture and Design Summit” will take place on Jan. 26 and 27 at the preeminent 92nd Street Y. “City of Tomorrow” – now in its second year – unites the brightest and most innovative minds from the worlds of architecture, real estate and interior design for an incomparable two-day symposium featuring a host of world-class interactive workshops and panel discussions on timely andprovocative topics.

Boasting an all-star line-up of over 50 speakers, from architecture’s most iconic figures like Robert A.M. Stern, Daniel Libeskind and Billie Tsien to the leading voices in interior design such as Anthony Baratta, Ken Fulk and Ghislaine Viñas – there will be no shortage of ideas and concepts to uncover. Prolific real estate developers such as Zlel Feldman and Kenneth Horn will give attendees a look inside of New York’s most talked about projects and conversions.

Topics will range from creative adaptive reuses for architectural treasures and reimagining New York neighborhoods to Jetson-esque home technologies and interiors that can actually foster health and wellness. Attendees will get a glimpse into the future of New York’s transportation hubs -- such as New York’s Penn-Moynihan station expansion, JFK Airport and Grand Central Station’s expansion. We'll hear the inside story on some of New York's most highly-anticipated new destinations including Heatherwick Studio's Stuart Wood discussing Hudson Yards' 'The Vessel'. Some panel headings from the catalogue include “Ethics of Architecture: The Social and Political Implications of the Built Environment,” “Gilded Age of New York Real Estate: Exploring New Iterations of the Classics,” “The Best in Kitchen and Bath Design" and “What Is American Style? Tastemakers Debate Design.”

“This year conference goers will experience a live dialogue and exchange of ideas from those who are, in astounding ways, refashioning our city's grid and our treasured institutions," said Robin Dolch, president of Hundred Stories. "We are also very excited to hear from the next generation of innovators and their remarkable plans for urban renewal and sustainable living.”

“The 2017 Summit was one of the 92Y’s real highlights of the year,” said Henry Timms, Executive Director of 92Y. “We are very proud to be collaborating with Hundred Stories again on what is now on a highly anticipated annual event.”

“City of Tomorrow” is a co-production of the 92nd Street Y and Hundred Stories. Design expert Chardonnay Pickard is the lead curator of the architecture and design programming for the summit.
