Grubhub More than Doubles its Space at Tower Overlooking Bryant Park

Equity Office announced today that it has signed Grubhub to a lease expansion and extension at 5 Bryant Park, its 34-story Class-A office tower in Midtown Manhattan.

Grubhub is the nation’s leading online and mobile takeout food-ordering marketplace, with a portfolio of brands that includes New York delivery favorite, Seamless. The company has the entire 15 th floor of the building. With the expansion, the company’s footprint will grow to encompass the entire 12th floor and a portion of the 13th floor. Grubhub also signed a lease extension, which will keep its New York office at the building through 2027.

“The Bryant Park submarket continues to be one of the most attractive in the city for growing creative companies that are drawn to its world-class dining, retail, and hotel options, expansive public spaces, and unrivaled access to transportation,” said Zach Freeman of Equity Office. “Grubhub has been a valued tenant at 5 Bryant Park for over five years and we are pleased to accommodate its remarkable growth.”

Grubhub was represented by Jeff Fischer of CBRE. Equity Office was represented in-house by Mr. Freeman and Scott Silverstein, as well as by Brian Waterman, Josh Gosin, Lance Korman, Alexander Radmin, and Brent Ozarowski of Newmark Knight Frank.

Equity Office completed a substantial capital improvement program at 5 Bryant Park in late-2015. During renovations, the building’s 40-foot by 18.5-foot mosaic mural entrance, which was completed by artist Max Spivak in 1958, was discovered and then meticulously repaired and restored. The capital improvement program also included the reimagining of the tower’s dual lobbies with a contemporary, edgy design and the installation of a brand new security desk and finishes; renovation of the 40 th Street entrance and canopy; modernization of the elevator system with improved mechanicals and cosmetics; and the revitalization of the building’s retail component, including the construction of a new storefront.

Equity Office recently completed the installation of a new exhibition of artwork in the lobby of 5 Bryant Park. The paintings and large-scale works on paper were created by current Hunter College Master of Fine Arts students. The installation inaugurates an ongoing partnership between Blackstone Group and Hunter’s nationally ranked MFA program in Studio Art.

Built in 1958, the 680,000-square-foot tower boasts convenient access to 11 subway lines, the PATH train, and commuter lines at Grand Central Terminal, Penn Station, and Port Authority Bus Terminal. Notable tenants include HOK Architects, Movable Ink, Schireson Associates and TJX.
