Midtown West GKA-Designed Hotel Tops Out

1/24/18

As Midtown West rises from industrial no-man’s-land to a neighborhood full of vibrancy and architectural interest, a boutique hotel designed by Gene Kaufman Architect (GKA) top out this month at 333 West 38th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues.

The 34,000 square-foot, 21-story hotel has 79 rooms and a range of amenities including a roof deck, fitness center and breakfast rooms. Designed with only four rooms per floor, guests will enjoy abundant natural light and views of the city, as well as unusually private and quiet stays. The $10 million project developer is Optima Real Estate.

“The development of this 25-foot site in a neighborhood once regarded as having no development potential shows how quickly it has become a premium hospitality location,” said Gene Kaufman Architect founder and principal Gene Kaufman. “This formerly industrial area is now being embraced architecturally with elegant facades and deluxe interiors. With this project, we are not only capitalizing on this new situation – we are also increasing the project’s potential so it can continue to benefit from the neighborhood’s rising fortunes.”
