March 21: NAIOP NJ “Building a Better New Jersey” Series: Public Policy Symposium

3/9/18

NAIOP New Jersey’s “Building a Better NJ Series” continues with a Public Policy Symposium on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. The commercial real estate development association’s annual event will be held at The Heldrich in New Brunswick from 7:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

“This program brings together government policy makers and industry leaders for interactive conversations about the most important economic issues facing New Jersey,” said NAIOP NJ CEO Michael McGuinness. “Discussions will address the Murphy administration’s top priorities as well as how our state can be more affordable and competitive in attracting talent, employers and investors.”

Matt Platkin, chief counsel to Governor Phil Murphy, will discuss issues that are critical for the new administration and their potential impact on the commercial real estate industry. NAIOP NJ President Dave Gibbons of Elberon Development Group will moderate a conversation with new Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin and Senate President Pro Tempore Teresa Ruiz, along with CRE leaders Clark Machemer of Rockefeller Group and Steve Santola of Woodmont Properties. The discussion will focus on government’s role in advancing public policies to attract and retain jobs and investments in New Jersey.

A second panel will exchange ideas around issues New Jersey must resolve in order to evolve from a suburban market to the vital “growth ring” of the Northeast region. Dana Nalbantian of Gensler, Dan Loughlin of JLL, Mayor John Labrosse of Hackensack, Mayor Robert Parisi of West Orange, Ross Chomik of Vision Real Estate Partners and Rutgers Economist Dr. James Hughes will tackle topics including stemming the talent migration, the evolution of co-working ecosystems, and the shift from commoditization to a stronger identity and business ready commercial product.

This program will offer one continuing education credit for New Jersey brokers; credit for attorneys and architects is pending. To register, or for more information, contact NAIOP NJ at (732) 729-9900, or visit www.naiopnj.org.
