DLA Piper and the firm's women's resource group, Leadership Alliance for Women (LAW), celebrated Women's History Month and International Women's Day in March under the theme of Empowering Women Worldwide.

This year marked the firm's ninth annual observance of Women's History Month and its seventh year collaborating with its offices in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific for International Women's Day.

The month-long program included events throughout DLA Piper's offices that celebrated women in the business and legal communities; strengthened relationships within DLA Piper and between the firm and its clients; encouraged business development; and promoted DLA Piper's commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace for everyone.

This year's observance of Women's History Month and International Women's Day was planned by dozens of women throughout the firm and was celebrated by both male and female attorneys and staff, as well as clients and friends of DLA Piper. Highlights included the Phoenix office's "Ladies Poker Night – Strategies from the Poker Table to the Conference Table," which entailed game play and discussion with clients led by the founder of POKERprimaDIVAS, with the goal of empowering women to become fearless and decisive in the boardroom through skills they gain at the poker table.

In the Chicago office, women lawyers collaborated to host "Women Supporting Women," an event with clients featuring female entrepreneurs from WiSTEM, a 12-week, curriculum-based program that was created by 1871, a Chicago technology incubator for digital startups, to connect women to capital, community and technology resources. The Northern California offices collaborated to host a panel of leading women who shared their journeys on their path to success and what they have done to champion and empower women worldwide. The panel featured Amanda Brock, executive director at Spark SF; Jane Chen, founder of Embrace Innovations and Little Lotus; and Anne Devereux-Mills, founder of Parlay House.
