Michal Kasprowicz Receives Teaching Award from Windsor Law

DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is pleased to announce that Michal Kasprowicz has received the SLS Outstanding Special Lecturer Award from Windsor Law school, presented to the sessional instructor who most exemplifies the attributes of an exceptional teacher for the school year in question.

Michal taught an upper level course on trademarks and unfair competition. Topics covered include the state of the law as it concerns trademarks and unfair competition, statutes and Canadian jurisprudence which establish and define the legal doctrines protecting businesses, the interests of trademark owners, public interest in honest trading practices and the impact of international agreements on domestic trade law. Notably, this was Michal’s first time teaching a University level course.

Award recipients are selected for their dedication to students and for enhancing the quality of life of Windsor Law students and access to justice. During the nomination process, Michal was commended for his “high level of enthusiasm” and for “going above and beyond when engaging the classroom while discussing challenging legal concepts” with which he “demonstrated an extraordinary familiarity."

Michal has an intellectual property law practice with a focus on patent and trademark litigation. He has prosecuted patent applications for large and small innovators, and is a registered Trademark Agent.
