DLA Piper Honored by Catholic Charities Legal Assistance for Pro Bono Work

4/29/18

DLA Piper and firm client Blue Cross Blue Shield Association have received an award for their collaboration in establishing and staffing a quarterly child support clinic from Catholic Charities Legal Assistance (CCLA). CCLA recognized the firm with its Justice for the Poor award, which is presented to individuals or organizations that demonstrate a commitment to providing compassionate and competent legal assistance to the economically disadvantaged.

The child support clinic enables women, many of whom are survivors of domestic violence, to receive assistance from lawyers in preparing paperwork to obtain or enforce child support orders.

DLA Piper was honored at the Catholic Charities Legal Lifelines Cocktail Reception on April 19, 2018, at the Union League Club of Chicago. More than 245 people attended, raising $150,000 for those in need. The reception is the sole fundraiser for Catholic Charities Legal Assistance Program, which offers a wide range of legal services for low- to no-income individuals who otherwise could not afford an attorney.
