James E. Fitzgerald, Inc. is pleased to announce it has won the Design and Construction award at the IFMA 2018 dinner for its general contracting work on Time Inc’s highly publicized new Industry City offices in Brooklyn. The scope of work included the new tech department and state-of-the-art creative lab, as well as content studio,The Foundry. The project progressed under an expedited timeline, designed by TPG Architecture with Robert Derector Associates Engineering and JLS Cost Management Systems Project; the Fitzgerald team was instrumental in the planning and execution of the project which was built in less than four months.

Inspiring Innovation

The 57,000 SF, 3-floor office is mostly open floor plan with an abundance of collaborative spaces. At the center of the floor is a unique staircase that is framed by a feature wall constructed using the historic windows from the original Industry City warehouse. Local artists were commissioned to provide custom signage, lighting and furniture to reflect the “maker” community of Industry City.The design aims to encourage collaboration, creativity, innovation and to celebrate the maker community of Industry City.
