CoreNet NYC Public Policy Community Presents Discussion On New York’s Transit And Transportation Challenges

6/8/18

The CoreNet Global New York City Chapter (CoreNet NYC) Public Policy Community is pleased to announce that the organization hosted the presentation and discussion “New York’s Transit and Transportation Challenges” at STATE Bar & Grill with Kathryn S. Wylde, Chief Executive Officer and President of The Partnership for New York City, Inc. and the Chamber of Commerce, Inc.

An Open Discussion on Pressing Public Issues

As an internationally recognized expert in urban planning, Wylde talked about her experience tackling current NYC transit and fiscal issues and the role that the private sector must play in implementing solutions. Topics covered also included affordability, union versus non-union construction, and the ongoing focus on Life Sciences and innovation hubs around the city. The casual atmosphere of the event allowed attendees to ask questions and discuss these topics with Wylde one on one at length. As President and CEO of the nonprofit, Partnership for New York City, the City’s leading business organization, she advances the organization’s mission working with the government, labor, and the civic sectors to build a stronger New York, with a focus on education, infrastructure, and the economy.

The Transportation Future of New York City

“Kathryn has an incredible track record of activating change in the public sphere and is incredibly knowledgeable in terms of urban planning and the civic landscape of our city; sectors that are of great interest to our real estate community,” commented Lisa Gibson, Chair of the Public Policy Community and Director of Real Estate Enterprises Services with Time Warner, Inc. “It was great having her as a resource on these current infrastructure projects, and we appreciate her insights on the transportation future of our city.”

Before her presidency, Wylde was the founding CEO of both the Partnership’s housing and investment fund affiliates. From 1982 to 2000, she was responsible for developing and managing affordable housing and economic development programs that contributed to the renaissance of blighted urban neighborhoods across the five boroughs. With the investment fund, she developed a network of business leaders and investors that nurtured the growth of the city’s “innovation economy,” creating thousands of jobs and promoting entrepreneurial business initiatives. She has received honorary degrees from Fordham University and St. Francis College and serves on numerous boards and advisory groups, including the NYC Economic Development Corporation, the Fund for Public Schools, Manhattan Institute, and the Governor’s NYC Regional Economic Development Council. Wylde has also authored numerous articles and policy papers and been recognized for her leadership by dozens of educational, professional and nonprofit institutions.
