NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Queens and Weill Cornell Medicine are pleased to welcome the following new physicians to their expanding network of care:

These board-certified physicians are affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Queens and join their colleagues there and at NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Queens in delivering outstanding care throughout the borough. They, along with physician experts from Weill Cornell Medicine, will practice at NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Queens offices in Astoria, Flushing, Forest Hills, Fresh Meadows and Sunnyside, as well as at the hospital.

The new physicians include:

Mihaela Balaescu, MD

Dr. Balaescu is a board-certified internist. She earned her medical degree from the Institute of Medicine and Pharmacy Medical School in Romania and completed her residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens. Dr. Balaescu’s research has been published in medical journals and textbooks on subjects ranging from diabetes to myelopathy.

Xuming Dai, MD, PhD, FACC, FSCAI

Dr. Dai is board-certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and internal medicine. After earning his medical degree and doctor of philosophy from the Second Military Medical University in Shanghai, China, Dr. Dai completed internships at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in clinical and interventional cardiology at University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Dai is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology; a member of the American Heart Association, American Medical Association, Chinese American Heart Association and American Society of Hematology; and the founder of the World Association of Chinese Cardiologist.

Ashlesha K. Dayal, MD

Dr. Dayal is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist and Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medicine. After earning her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Dayal completed her internship and residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where she was named administrative chief resident during her final year. She pursued fellowships in fetal medicine at both NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Dayal is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and New York Obstetrical Society, and a member of the Society for Maternal Medicine. She has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for the last three years and has presented her research at national medical meetings.

Lauren Elreda, MD

Dr. Elreda is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology, and is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in the West Indies and completed her internship and residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she was named chief resident in her final year. She then served her fellowship in hematology and oncology at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.

Dr. Elreda was named a Castle Connolly Top Doctors for Cancer in New Jersey in 2016 and 2017 and in New York for the last three years. She is a member of the American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American College of Physicians.

Edward Moss, MD, FACS

Dr. Moss is a board-certified urologist and is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Urology at Weill Cornell Medicine. After earning his medical degree from New York Medical College, Dr. Moss completed his residencies in general surgery and urology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Bronx Municipal Health Center.

Dr. Moss is an editor for medical publications, including the Hospital Board Review Manual in urology. He previously served as a major in the United States Army medical corps, providing urological care to soldiers and their families.

Rudy Albert Segna, MD, FACOG

Dr. Segna is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. After graduating magna cum laude from Columbia University, he earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship, residency and chief residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Naval Medical Center in San Diego and returned to New York for a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Segna served as a medical officer and commander of a U.S. military naval ship and training center. He is a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a fellow for the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncologists and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
