Pryor Cashman announced today that leading family law attorney Karen Platt has joined the firm's New York office as a partner. With nearly two decades of experience litigating a range of matrimonial issues, she will bolster the firm's nationally-recognized Family Law Group. Platt joins from Mayerson Abramowitz & Kahn, LLP, where she was a partner.

In addition to broad expertise negotiating prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and counseling clients on spousal support, child custody and complex asset distributions, Platt is also a trained mediator and collaborative lawyer who is consistently ranked as a top family law attorney by Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers.

Prior to and during law school, she worked as a registered representative at a major investment company, advising clients on retirement planning; a background which has been a tremendous asset to her work as a matrimonial attorney.

Pryor Cashman has seen steady growth across numerous practice areas, both in its New York and Los Angeles offices, in recent years. Platt is the seventh new partner to join the firm in the last twelve months.

Platt sits on the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association's Family Law Section and is actively involved with the ABA Section on Family Law, serving as chair of the Marital Property Committee. She is also a trustee of The Friends of Hoboken Charter School.

She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from New York Law School, where she was Chief Notes and Comments Editor of the Journal of Human Rights, and obtained her B.S. in psychology, with distinction, from Pennsylvania State University.
