General Electric: Is This The Bottom?

General Electric's (GE) shares could be in the early stages of a bottom formation after the industrial company presented investors with a strategic update about its ongoing restructuring efforts. General Electric does all the right things - it sells assets, cuts costs, and slashed its dividend -, and has now guided for a more dramatic reorganization that could have a positive effect on the company's capital efficiency and shareholder returns going forward. It's worth staying the course.

General Electric hasn't exactly been a good investment so far in 2018 with uncertainty over the company's strategic direction continuing to weigh on its share price. Though General Electric cut its dividend in half late last year, investors still haven't warmed up to GE yet. The industrial company's shares slipped ~21 percent year to date, but there is a good chance that shares have now finally bottomed.
