National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners Appoints Rhonda Brand as President

The National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) is proud to announce that Rhonda Brand has joined the NCCDP as the new President of the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners, effective July 5th 2018. Sandra Stimson, CEO of the NCCDP, said "We are extremely excited and proud to have Rhonda as our new leader. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion for the industry."

Brand stated "It is an honor to serve the NCCDP, its members and the health care community at large as the President of the NCCDP. I strongly believe in dementia education and CDP certification for all health care workers and frontline staff to ensure delivery of compassionate care to our vulnerable elders with diagnoses of dementia."

Brand has worked in the health care industry for over 27 years. She has held a variety of positions such as: activity director, admissions director, adult day care director, dementia unit manager, administrator, national consultant, national trainer and public speaker. She has worked in adult day care, home care agencies, nursing homes and assisted living communities.

In this capacity, Brand discovered her passion for working with families and loved ones diagnosed with dementia. She became a strong advocate for the importance of providing dementia education for all health care workers. This education enables frontline staff to provide compassionate and educated care to vulnerable elders.

Brand served as the President of the Northwest NJ Gathering of Activity Professionals (NWNJGAP). She presented the MEPAP course to over 300 activity professionals during a seven year period and mentored hundreds more.

Brand is a Certified Dementia Practitioner, Certified Alzheimer's Disease Dementia Care Trainer, Certified Dementia Care Manager (for Dementia Unit Managers), Certified First Responder Dementia Trainer and Certified Dementia Support Group Facilitator with the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. She is also a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, Certified Assisted Living Administrator and Certified Activity Director. Brand is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University.

The National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners was formed in 2003 and the mission of the NCCDP is to provide comprehensive dementia education and dementia certification to health care professionals and frontline staff working in the health care industry. NCCDP offers many certifications such as: Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), Certified Alzheimer's Dementia Care Trainer (CADDCT), Certified Dementia Care Manager (CDCM), Certified Dementia Support Group Facilitator (CDSGF) and Certified First Responder Dementia Trainer (CFRDT).
