2017’s Team Hope Walk – Hudson Valley

ArchCare at Ferncliff Nursing Home and the Center for Neurodegenerative Care at ArchCare at Ferncliff in Rhinebeck have once again joined forces with the New York region of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America to sponsor the third annual Team Hope Walk – Hudson Valley on October 28 to raise funds for Huntington’s disease (HD) research and programs that support people with HD and their families in the Hudson Valley.

ArchCare at Ferncliff is part of ArchCare, the healthcare system of the Archdiocese of New York.

All community members are invited and encouraged to participate in the 2.5-mile walk along the Walkway Over the Hudson from its Highland entry to Poughkeepsie and back. Last year’s 87 Haviland Road, with the walk beginning at 9 a.m. To register, get details, fundraise or learn about sponsorship opportunities, visit www.hdsa.org/thwhudsonvalley.

“It’s wonderful to see our community come together each year for Team Hope Walk – Hudson Valley in support of people with HD and their families,” said Michael Deyo, executive director of ArchCare at Ferncliff. “Raising awareness and money makes all the difference in the quality of life for people living with HD.”

ArchCare’s 38-bed Center for Neurodegenerative Care at ArchCare at Ferncliff is the only specialized residential care center in the Hudson Valley for people with Huntington’s disease (HD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease. It is one of only four facilities in the state designated as a Neurodegenerative Disease Center for Excellence by the New York State Department of Health. It operates in collaboration with ArchCare’s renowned Huntington’s Unit at Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center in Manhattan, also a state-designated Center for Excellence.

Now in its 50 year, Team Hope Walk is HDSA’s largest national grassroots fundraising event, which takes place in more than 100 cities across the U.S and has raised more than $7 million for HD since its inception in 2007.
