DLA Piper announced today that Vanina Guerrero has joined the firm's Corporate practice as a partner in Silicon Valley and New York.

Guerrero joins DLA Piper from her role as general counsel for both Reliance Communications (Enterprise), the flagship telecom arm of Indian conglomerate the Reliance Group, and Global Cloud Xchange (GCX), its global internet and technology subsidiary, which owns and operates the world's largest private submarine cable system, where she was responsible for the company's global corporate and legal affairs and was a member of the senior executive management team.

During her 15 years in practice, Guerrero has handled a wide variety of IPOs, SEC-registered and Rule 144A/Regulation S securities offerings, high-yield debt offerings, corporate debt restructurings, M&A transactions and corporate governance issues. She has worked on complex client matters based out of New York, Paris, Hong Kong, Beijing and Mumbai. Guerrero was recognized as an Exceptional Female In-House Counsel by Asia Law 2017 and nominated as General Counsel of the Year by the Asia-Pacific Counsel Awards 2018.

"It is unusual to find such an accomplished business and legal advisor with both in-house and private practice experience," said Louis Lehot, co-chair of DLA Piper's US Emerging Growth and Venture Capital practice. "Vanina has worked as GC of both an Indian conglomerate and an emerging growth internet infrastructure company and speaks five languages fluently, including Mandarin Chinese. Our clients recognize the value of working with lawyers like Vanina who bring deep global experience, creativity and high energy to the table."

"Vanina will play a key role in the growth of our Corporate practice on the West Coast, and her broad experience across industries and regions makes her an immediate asset to the team," said Eric Wang, co-chair of the firm's Northern California Corporate and Finance practice. "We are pleased to welcome her to the firm."

Guerrero is the latest addition to DLA Piper in Northern California. This year, the firm has also added Craig Lang, a partner in the Corporate practice, and Clayton Thompson and Jake Zolotorev, both partners in the Intellectual Property and Technology practice, in Silicon Valley, and added Jeff Tsai, a partner in the Litigation, White Collar and Investigations practices, in San Francisco.

"We are continuing to strategically expand our capabilities in Silicon Valley and the greater Bay Area by bringing on partners whose experience and skills reflect our clients' needs," said Rich Scudellari, managing partner of the Silicon Valley office. "Vanina's background and skill set complement our existing team well, and we look forward to her contributions."

Guerrero earned her J.D. from New York University School of Law and her B.A. from Duke University, and she is admitted to practice law in New York. She is not admitted to practice in California.
