Great Place to Work and FORTUNE have honored Seabrook, an Erickson Living senior living community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, as one of the 2018 Best Workplaces for Aging Services. The ranking considered more than 76,000 employee surveys from companies in the Aging Services industry. Seabrook took the #4 spot on the list.

Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, evaluated more than 50 elements of team members’ experience on the job. These included the extent to which employees trust leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions, and how much camaraderie there is among the team. Rankings are based on employees’ feedback and reward companies who best include all employees, no matter who they are or what they do for the organization.

“Seabrook is proud to be recognized as one of the best workplaces by Fortune,” said Executive Director Paula Digerness.“When people join Seabrook’s team of everyday heroes, they gain more than a great job in a booming industry—they gain unparalleled access to an array of rich experiences, knowledge, and opportunities that will prove invaluable to their personal and professional growth. What’s also rewarding for them is that they get to change lives for the better.”

“We hire individuals who share our values of diversity and inclusion, friendliness and enthusiasm, integrity, teamwork, and respect,” said Director of Human Resources Jim MacDonald. “The satisfaction of our residents and employees is our highest priority.”

Seabrook employees are regularly recognized for their work—including big and small acts of kindness—at monthly and annual award ceremonies, as well as other special staff events held throughout the year. The campus boasts an employee health and wellness center, where employees can see a Nurse Practitioner during work hours and schedule regular health checkups, testing, and flu shots. Seabrook also offers staff access to its on-site pharmacy, fitness center, employee fitness classes, smoking cessation and Weight Watchers programs.

Like all Erickson Living communities, Seabrook is also committed to cultivating a diverse workplace, with staff and residents coming from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds. “Supporting a committed, diverse and engaged team is essential in creating a community that is a great place to live and work, as well as makes us stand out among other senior living providers,” said Joseph Machicote, senior vice president of human resources at Erickson Living.

“The aging services industry is rapidly growing and with aging Baby Boomers, consumer preferences are changing even more dramatically. Companies need to adapt their organizations and offerings to remain competitive,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “Organizations like Seabrook stand out from the crowd, intentionally growing their businesses by creating great places to work.”

“The people who dedicate their lives to working here for service to our residents are a vital key to our success. We want to continue to be a great place to work and embrace our staff with respect and caring, showing we value and appreciate the efforts they make every day,” said Digerness.

Seabrook employs more than 800 full- and part-time employees. Employee benefits include tuition reimbursement, 401k, paid time off, comprehensive medical benefits, on-site employee health and wellness centers, employee discount programs, and much more.
