This is the 10th year of the annual ranking, which spotlights companies who have fostered supportive and engaging workplaces to the benefit of both their employees, and the larger economy. These rankings rely on employee engagement surveys, which account for 75% of the ranking calculation.

To come up with their selections, Crain’s, with the help of Best Companies Group, surveyed more than 20,000 employees across New York City. These employees responded to a confidential survey covering topics such as working conditions, benefits, and corporate culture. Employers filled out a separate survey, which was also part of the methodology. The top 100 companies will be honored at a celebratory luncheon on November 30, and the final ranking of the top 100 will be announced on December 3.
