Famed actors and area residents, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton are back at Astor Services for Children & Families in Rhinebeck for the third phase in the renovation of the children’s units in the non-profit’s on-campus Residential Treatment Center (RTC). Astor provides behavioral and educational services for children and their families in the Hudson Valley and Bronx.

This phase, which is slated for November 5 through 9, will involve the update of RTC’s all-girl 8-room unit and will feature a garden theme. Each child will also receive customized bedding to match the child’s desired style. This allows the children to have their own personalized bedroom.

Morgan and Burton will provide hands-on assistance with local volunteers to complete the transformation of the girls’ unit, as they did for the 2017 and the spring of 2018 renovations of other areas of the RTC, including a total of 20 of the center’s 44 beds, plus the wing’s kitchen and common areas. With this new phase, the duo will once again contribute the schematic theme for the space’s finishes and designs, secure pro-bono contractors and help coordinate donated goods for the center.

Funding for all phases of the RTC renovation project was raised during Astor’s Ghost Stories events, which were headlined by Morgan and Burton in fall of 2016 and the spring of 2017. The events secured enough money to cover renovation costs for the RTC’s remaining two units, as well as ongoing maintenance and bedding for new residents as they arrive.

“We are thrilled that Hilarie and Jeffrey are here, once again,” said James McGuirk, Ph.D., executive director and CEO. “Their contributions in time and resources in the update of our Residential Treatment Center have been extraordinary, as have those of the volunteers, donors and pro-bono workers involved. We are tremendously thankful for all their efforts to brighten the lives of our children and show them how much they matter.”
