4/11/19

The International Women's Writing Guild (the Guild), a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to empower women personally and professionally through writing, has named Michelle Miller as its new Executive Director. Approved unanimously by the Board of Directors, her selection follows an extensive nationwide search that was led by a combined team of current Board and Guild members.

"On behalf of the Board and our membership, I am delighted to welcome Michelle to the Guild," said Judy Huge, Board Chair. "She brings to us an exceptional combination of nonprofit management expertise, a proven record in fund development, global marketing and event planning as well as a deep desire to help women's voices be heard. We are confident in Michelle's leadership in taking us to the next level in building our organizational capacity, improving our programming and extending our global reach."

Michelle has worked closely with nonprofit management teams, boards of directors, fundraising and marketing teams in the US and internationally. Prior to joining the Guild, she worked for a variety of organizations to increase their ability to promote causes from diversity to anti-trafficking. In her career, she has served as International Marketing Director for Reebok and Global Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at the nonprofit Half the Sky.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the International Women's Writing Guild. In my work here and abroad, I have witnessed the power of women's voices. I am thrilled to be contributing my skills and experience to the Guild's vital mission," said Michelle Miller, Executive Director of the Guild.

Judy Huge, Board Chair, continued, "I would also like to take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation to Hope Player and Jan Phillips, who have gone above and beyond in serving the Guild as volunteer co-executive directors for the last 18 months. In addition, thanks are due to our volunteer Search Committee that worked tirelessly to evaluate over 220 candidates and find the right person for this critical role."

Miller's hiring comes as the Guild implements a plan of strategic growth and sustainability in membership, programming, development and marketing. Michelle will build on the Guild's success in running its long-standing annual writing conference, regional conferences and online programming.

Miller began her role as Executive Director on April 1, 2019. She will be introduced to the membership at the Bostonregional conference scheduled for May 10-11, 2019.
