5/10/19

CoreNet Global New York City Chapter (CoreNet NYC) is pleased to announce the organization’s Public Policy Community hosted an educational event at Haworth on Thursday, March 28, 2019 featuring a panel discussion on economic development incentives in New York City.

Guest panelists included moderator, Marcus Rayner, Vice Chairman, New York Region of Colliers International with speakers Seth Pinsky, Executive Vice President & Investment Manager of RXR Realty and Mike Grella, Founder of Social Equity Ventures,a company who identifies and implements partnerships that benefit companies and communities alike for mutual growth. The educational event focused on economic development, and the role economic incentives, and public/private partnerships are likely to playin the future development of the City, especially in the wake of Amazon’s recent decision not to locate part of an additional headquarters in New York City.

CoreNet NYC was particularly excited to host this event as Amazon’s decision has been a widely debated topic in recent months following its announcement. The event was attended by CoreNet NYC members, real estate professionals and young emerging leaders.

“It’s an important and timely discussion in the world of New York real estate,” said Rayner, who is also a CoreNet NYC Chapter Board Advisor. “We were fortunate to be able to have such authoritative speakers on this issue and the audience was engaged throughout. I heard different opinions, and despite the controversial nature of this topic, attendees took away genuinely positive messages and ideas on how economic development might evolve in this important city.”

“Seth and Mike were thoughtful throughout the event,” said Tommy O’Halloran, Vice President of Business Development, Structure Tone and CoreNet NYC Communities Chair. “They collaborated with one another and incorporated dialogue from the audience during the Q&A portion of the discussion. It provided high-quality information on a topic our members are interested in.”
