Mayer Greenberg
Kramer Levin is pleased to announce that Mayer Greenberg is joining the firm’s Tax practice in New York as a partner.
Mr. Greenberg counsels investors on the tax implications of transactions including joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions and other strategic combinations, as well as reorganizations and restructurings. He has extensive experience managing transactions in the real estate and energy sectors, and represents REITs (real estate investment trusts), real estate developers, financial institutions, securities underwriters, private equity funds and others in capital markets transactions.
Joining Kramer Levin from Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, where he was a partner, Mr. Greenberg also advises entities that are tax-exempt or are subject to other special tax regimes on the tax consequences of their investment strategies and transactions.
Kramer Levin Managing Partner Paul S. Pearlman said: “We are excited to welcome Mayer to the firm. His tremendous expertise in managing the tax aspects of complex transactions will make him a valuable asset to a wide array of clients, including our growing roster of REIT clients.”
“There are numerous synergies between Mayer’s tax practice and Kramer Levin’s corporate, real estate and restructuring practices,” said Tax chair Barry Herzog. “His extensive experience in these areas will enable him to hit the ground running.”
“I am delighted to join the highly talented attorneys at Kramer Levin, who have always stood out for their intellect, integrity and deep commitment to their clients,” Mr. Greenberg said. “I am looking forward to helping the firm’s diverse roster of clients navigate the complex and ever-changing tax environment.”

He received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law and his B.S., summa cum laude from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York.
In joining Kramer Levin, Mr. Greenberg is reuniting with his former Stroock partners Marissa Holob, co-chair of Kramer Levin’s Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits practice, who joined the firm in May 2018, and Corporate partners Todd Lenson and Jordan Rosenbaum, who joined the firm in November 2017.
