RYE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GAMCO Investors, Inc. (NYSE:GBL) is pleased to announce the addition of The Honorable John G. Vonglis as Senior Advisor to Mario J. Gabelli, Chairman and CEO, with a primary focus on opportunities within the aerospace/defense, energy, and technology sectors. Mr. Vonglis will also serve as an advisor to LICT as it evolves into a communications provider and to LGL as it expands in the defense area.

Prior to this, John served as the Chief Financial Officer of the U.S. Department of Energy, a Senate confirmed position, and concurrently, as Chief Risk Officer and acting Director of the department’s Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA-E). John has served variously, three Presidential administrations, to include service at the Department of Defense as Chief Management and Chief Financial Officer of the U.S. Air Force. His private sector experiences encompass a broad array of C-suite financial and operational roles, and include firms such as IBM, PwC, Thomson Financial, Amdahl, The First Boston Corporation, and Grumman Aerospace.

In 2000, John was a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from his native New York. John also is a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. In addition to his military and civilian awards, as a former Eagle Scout, John was recognized with Scouting’s National Outstanding Eagle Award. Mr. Vonglis holds an MIPP from The Johns Hopkins University, and MBA and BS degrees from Fordham University.
