The Arc of Dutchess, one of Dutchess County’s largest providers of diverse support services for those with disabilities, announced the addition of Dylan Murphy to its agency board of directors.

Murphy, a Hudson Valley native and vice president of credit administration at Rhinebeck Bank, brings several years of experience to his role on the board. A graduate of Marist College, Murphy began working at Rhinebeck Bank as a commercial credit analyst while he completed his master’s degree and continued to advance in his career over the years. Outside of the office, Murphy is actively involved with his family and community. He is an assistant youth soccer coach for the East Fishkill Avalanche, has worked with the Friends of Jaclyn nonprofit organization and is a 2019 graduate of the Chamber Foundation, Inc.’s Leadership Dutchess Program.

Murphy has a very personal force inspiring him to further The Arc of Dutchess’ impact and mission. His sister, who has intellectual and developmental disabilities, is credited as the driving force behind his passion for supporting what matters most to people with disabilities and ensuring that all are valued members of the community.

“Dylan is a great addition to the agency’s board of directors,” said Crys McCuin, executive director of The Arc of Dutchess. “With his energy and passion for helping others and his community, there is no doubt he will help us continue enriching the lives of those we support.”

With Murphy’s appointment comes the retirement of longtime board of director member, Mark J. Metzger. For 36 years, Metzger has served on the agency board, been a leader on the executive committee and performed the duties of president of both the agency and foundation boards during his tenure. Metzger was also one of the founding trustees responsible for creating The Arc of Dutchess Foundation. In addition, Metzger also advocated for the rights of individuals with disabilities at the state level, serving on the Board of Governors for NYSARC (now The Arc New York).

Metzger is also deeply involved with the Maplebrook School, a private day and boarding school in Dutchess County for individuals with disabilities. He has served on the board of directors for 28 years and the organization has since given an award annually in honor of his service - the Mark J. Metzger Citizenship Award. Passionate about the organization’s mission, Metzger will remain a trustee of The Arc of Dutchess Foundation Board and serve on the agency’s guardianship committee.
