John Kaelle
Today StockX announced the expansion of its executive team, appointing John Kaelle as its first-ever Chief Financial Officer.
John brings over 25 years of experience to the leadership team, previously serving as CFO for companies such as Mesosphere and Marin Software and helped scale both through significant growth and financing activities, including Marin’s successful 2013 IPO. Prior to Marin, John led the finance, accounting and investor relations functions for Shutterfly -- a consumer e-commerce platform specializing in personalized products and services -- where he played a significant role in the company’s 2006 IPO.
The University of Michigan and Wharton alum kicked off his financial career in Detroit in 1992, and is excited to return to the city to oversee StockX’s finance and accounting divisions.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the StockX team at such a pivotal time for the company,” said Kaelle. “In just over three years, StockX has reached milestones that typically take brands several years to hit. That growth is a testament to the talented team at the helm and to the company’s commitment to disrupting the e-commerce landscape -- I am excited about the opportunity to play a role in the next chapter of the StockX story.”
The news comes on the heels of a busy quarter for the brand, having recently announced the launch of its fifth vertical, collectibles; appointed its first CMO Deena Bahri; and introduced an exclusive IPO with adidas.
Launched in February 2016, StockX is the Detroit-based online resale marketplace founded by Dan Gilbert, Josh Luber and Greg Schwartz as the world's first "Stock Market of Things." Today, StockX enables the buying and selling of high-demand consumer products, including sneakers, watches, handbags, streetwear and collectibles.
StockX connects millions of buyers and sellers each month by the same methods as the world's stock markets – using anonymity and standardization to provide real-time market pricing and complete transparency. All products are physically inspected and authenticated by StockX. The StockX platform also supplies in-depth market analysis, individual portfolio tracking, historical sales and volume metrics. In June 2019, StockX closed a $110M Series C funding round making it the first marketplace of its kind with a $1B valuation.
