DeSimone Consulting Engineers is pleased to announce that Ashley A. Reed joins the firm as Director of the Facades Consulting Practice in the Southeast region of the United States. As Director of the firm’s Facade Practice, she will oversee the design and development of high-performance enclosure systems and will also play a pivotal role in the expansion of DeSimone’s core services into the design, analysis, and repair of building enclosures.

Ms. Reed joins DeSimone with eight years of professional experience in enclosure systems design, performance analysis, and computational modeling. She has managed teams of facade consultants and technicians for a variety of building types across the United States. These projects include the Florida Power and Light Office, a multi-phase commercial campus in Palm Beach Gardens; the Miami-Dade Civil Courthouse, a 600,000 square foot municipal tower; 15 Hudson Yards, a 914-foot-tall residential tower in Manhattan; and Case Western Reserve Health Education Campus, a 477,000-square-foot academic facility in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ms. Reed earned a Master of Architecture degree from Cornell University, a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from The Cooper Union.

In the field, she’s leveraged her education in building physics, engineering, and computational design to study solar concentration and glare risk for structural glass systems. She has also integrated dynamic thermal and moisture simulations into the design of resilient enclosure systems, and has developed workflows to evaluate the thermal fracture risk of glass using annual climate data and heat transfer analysis.
