DLA Piper advised Invenergy, a privately held global developer and operator of sustainable energy solutions, in the negotiation of the balance of system agreement for Phase 1 of the Samson Solar Energy Center, a new 1,310-megawatt solar energy generation facility that will be the largest in the US and second largest in the world upon completion.

Currently under construction in northeast Texas, the Samson Solar Energy Center will support the sustainability objectives of five major consumer brands and supply power to three Texas municipalities. Samson Solar will be constructed in five phases over the next three years, with each phase commencing operation upon completion. The full project is slated to be operational in 2023. When complete, it will produce enough energy to power nearly 300,000 American homes.

“We were pleased to bring our extensive renewable energy and infrastructure capabilities to advise Invenergy on this incredible project, which will provide renewable, cost-effective power, create hundreds of jobs, and support the transition to a more sustainable economy,” said Sameer Ghaznavi, who led the DLA Piper deal team.

In addition to Sameer Ghaznavi (Chicago), the DLA Piper team that advised Invenergy included partners Vanessa Wilson (Washington, DC) and Tom Geraghty (Chicago) and associates Robert Parisot and Kyle Stearns (both of Chicago).
