Nonprofit Founded by Acclaimed Director Leases More than 14,000 Square Feet
Real estate brokerage is rarely associated with tranquility, but stress reduction is at the root of a recent transaction negotiated by EVO Real Estate Group, a member of NAI Global: The firm represented 228 East 45th Street in a lease to The David Lynch Foundation (DLF). Robert Taylor of Colliers International NY, LLC, represented the tenant.
DLF was founded in 2005 by director David Lynch, noted for such films as Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, and the popular TV series Twin Peaks. The foundation, which helps at-risk populations reduce stress through such methods as transcendental meditation, will take occupancy of its new 14,113-square-foot space in July. Its existing office of 10,500 square feet is nearby at 216 East 45th Street.
DLF funds the implementation of scientifically proven stress-reducing modalities for underserved inner-city students; veterans with PTSD and their families; women and girls who have been victims of violence, rape, and abuse; American Indians suffering from diabetes and high suicide rates; homeless adults and teens participating in reentry programs; and incarcerated adults and juveniles.
“It’s rewarding to secure a tenant of this caliber for the landlords we represent,” says Ira Fishman, EVO’s chief executive officer. “DLF’s move to 228 East 45th Street also exemplifies an excellent match between tenant and property.”
EVO’s Robert Rosenberg and Mr. Fishman represented the landlord in the lease negotiations.
EVO is currently marketing 9,170 square feet on the sixth floor of the building.
