New Eateries And Maker Retailers Coming To Industry City’s Ground Floor

The wide range of innovation economy companies at Industry Cityand the larger Sunset Park community are about to have an assortment of new amenities, as four eateries and maker retailers sign on to be part of the property’s unique ground floor program:Hometown Bar-B-Que, Moore Brothers Wine Company, Steampunk and Rose Red & Lavender.

From food tastings to pop-up shops of makers located elsewhere in the campus, the ground floor offers people a unique way to engage all of the incredible creativity and innovation happening throughout the property.”

Hometown Bar-B-Que is opening a 5,000 square-foot events and catering facility, complete with a 100-seat Bar-B-Que Hall serving authentic, pit-smoked meats and traditional Southern sides and desserts at the corner of 35th Street and 3rd Avenuein Building 5. The 10-year lease was signed in May and negotiated without brokers. The Red Hook-founded eatery is expected to move into the space in January 2017.

Moore Brothers Wine Company is taking 2,500 square feet as part of a five-year lease for a wine retail location offering bottles from artisanal producers in Europe and the U.S., as well as tasting events. Their space will be located in Building 5, along Innovation Alley and next to Steampunk, which is taking 4,000 square feet as part of a 10-year lease. Alpha Dominche’s Steampunk will produce and sell their app-controlled craft coffee and tea brewing system in the space, along with a wide range of coffee and tea products.

Brooklyn based Rose Red & Lavender is taking 1,500 square feet as part of a one-year lease for afull-service floral and event studio, also located in Building 5, along Innovation Alley and across from Moore Brothers and Steampunk. At Industry City, Rose Red & Lavender joins more than a dozen event-focused companies, including David Stark Design and Production.

The Moore Brothers, Steampunk and Red Rose & Lavender leases were all signed in May and negotiated by Grant Holton of SCG Retail on behalf of Industry City and without tenant brokers. The three businesses are expected to move into their spaces in September 2016.

In addition, the courtyards and other ground floor spaces at Industry City are the site of a growing number of community and industry events, including the Freedom Dance Party, which is held in Courtyard 1/2 on Saturday nights throughout the summer, as well as a number of pop-up markets and food events.

Current Food Hall tenants include: One Girl Cookies, Steve & Andy’s, Ends Meat, ReCaFo, Taco Mix,The Fashion Chef, Liddabit Sweets, Blue Marble Ice Cream, and Colson Patisserie.

Burger Joint and Table 87 Coal Oven Pizza are expected to join the Food Hall in September 2016, following the relocation of Colson Patisserie, which is expanding from 3,700 square feet in the Food Hall to 7,000 square feet in Building 3, along Innovation Alley.

Under the new ownership led by Belvedere Capital and Jamestown, Industry City has leased more than 2 million square feet of space, including over 1 million square feet to manufacturers, and has more than doubled employment to 4,500 jobs since the transformation of the site into an innovation economy hub was launched in August 2013.

The recent leasing activity follows a series of announcements that includes the $1 billion redevelopment plan for the property, WiredScore Certification for 10 Industry City buildings, including three which received Platinum Certification, and the opening of an on-site employment center, which provides tenants with access to local talent and offers local residents training, job placement and entrepreneurial development services.
