Alternative College Prep School Moves Campus to 38,825 SF Space Downtown
The Quad Preparatory School, an independent college preparatory school dedicated to the education of gifted students who learn differently (aka Twice-Exceptional) will soon open its new and expanded campus in Lower Manhattan, uniting all divisions and program services to 25 Pine Street. The relocation was arranged by Savills Studley,the leading commercial real estate services firm specializing in tenant representation.
Quad Prep’s new school, located between Wall Street and Liberty Street, encompasses 38,825 square feet on the entire 4th floor, featuring state-of-the-art classroom space, a film screening room, a large kitchen classroom and two maker space project rooms, as well as a private entrance on Pine Street. With this new lease, Quad Prep will move from incubator space in the 6th Street Synagogue into space currently occupied by the sub-landlord, the Green Ivy School.
In addition, Quad Prep will share the building with the Pine Street School, a PK-5 Montessori-infused International baccalaureate world school, and the City School of the Arts, an innovative new charter middle school that provides extensive enrichment programming for artistic disciplines.
Savills Studley’s Executive Managing Director Marc Shapses and Assistant Director Seth Wasserman represented Quad Prep in the long-term subleasing transaction.
According to Shapses, Quad Prep wanted to move into a high quality, existing build-out specifically for academic space, which involved an extensive search throughout Manhattan. “Finding quality educational space is a rare find in the city, but after scouring the market, our team at Savills Studley secured a site for the school that was in ready-to-move-in condition,” he said. “25 Pine Street provided everything that Quad Prep was looking for: modern, fully built-out classroom space, administrative offices and project rooms, all without any additional capital expenditure, making it a win-win for them.”
Established in 2013 by Dr. Kimberly Busi, the Quad Preparatory School is a K-12 school that specializes in the education of gifted learners with learning differences. Today, the school enrolls more than 50 students in various programs, and expects to grow into the full space by 2020.Says Dr. Busi, “securing this home for our school will allow us keep up with the huge demand for our unique type of individualized and flexible learning and serve exponentially more students whose needs have not been met in any other educational setting.”
