The first-ever “Hard Hats with Heart” event to benefit the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association (AHA|ASA) has already exceeded expectations for pre-event donations, sponsorships and tickets sold by raising over $250,000 and selling more than 250 tickets three weeks before the event, according to Chair James A. Pirot, managing principal, project management, CRESA New York. The cocktail event, which is being held Tuesday, February 6, 2018, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Ascent Lounge in Time Warner Center, 10 Columbus Circle, has attracted an audience largely from the construction, engineering, architecture and real estate industries in the New York Tri-State area. Befittingly, the inaugural honoree will be Michael Gerazounis, P.E., president/managing principal, MC Engineering D.P.C.
“Cresa has served as the American Heart Association’s real estate consultant for more than a decade through my colleague Jane Roundell, and for us it is also deeply personal,” points out Mr. Pirot. “Our industry has been greatly impacted by heart disease, especially in the various construction practices, so it is not surprising that this event has already brought together so many people!”
According to nationwide statistics, construction workers represent a higher risk category for heart attack and stroke. As a result, “Hard Hats with Heart” has resonated across the various disciplines in the building trades community. In addition to a goal to train 90,000 individuals in hands-only CPR by 2021, funds raised will be used to support research, education and community outreach programs in the Tri-State area.
MVP Sponsors for the event comprise Clune Construction, Cresa, Gil-Bar Industries, DNT Enterprises, JRM, Lane Office, and MGE Engineering. This year’s All-Star sponsors are Crossland Mechanical, The Durst Organization, Emerald City Construction, Phelps Construction Group, RFR, SL Green, Air Stream, Caldwell & Walsh Building Construction, Inc., Corgan, Donnelly Mechanical, Finaly General Contracting Group, Gallin, Prime Mechanical, and Tulla Contracting.
