BID Welcomes Leonti, The Flying Fisherman, 8th Hill, Miznon, Billy’s Bakery and Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee: Slated for 2018 Openings
Before the end of the year, the Columbus Avenue Business Improvement District (“BID”), which represents the 200-shop corridor between West 67th and 82nd Streets, will welcome six more trendsetting restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops. They include fine dining at Leonti, a new concept being developed by acclaimed chef Adam Leonti at 103 West 77th Street in the former Dovetail space; The Flying Fisherman and take-away-focused Fish on the Fly, two new productions from The Restaurant Group in the former AG Kitchen space at 269 Columbus Avenue (72nd and 73rd Streets), which opened in early September; 8th Hill, a Mediterranean restaurant coming to 359 Columbus Avenue in the former Isabella’s space (77th Street); Miznon, a global chain that will highlight creative Mediterranean street food at 320 Columbus Avenue (75th Street); Billy’s Bakery, a beloved downtown destination soon opening at 410 Columbus Avenue at 80th Street; and Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee, a go-to from Tribeca to Montauk known for its organic coffee and vegan baked goods, at 370 Columbus Avenue (77th and 78th Streets).
“What a delicious way to end the year with this wonderful array of new dining on Columbus Avenue,” notes Columbus Avenue BID Executive Director Barbara Adler. “It really highlights the ever-increasing activity on the Avenue”
In addition to the new restaurants, 10 retailers opened shops on Columbus Avenue in 2018, rendering the corridor 94 percent occupied.
About the Columbus Avenue Business Improvement District
The Columbus Avenue Business Improvement District (“BID”) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that represents merchants and property owners along tree-lined Columbus Avenue, from West 67th to West 82nd Streets. Formed in the landmark district in 1999, its membership includes a diverse range of retailers, restaurateurs and commercial and mixed-use property owners, comprising the commercial establishments on the avenue. The Columbus Avenue BID’s district also includes the American Museum of Natural History, Theodore Roosevelt Park, The New-York Historical Society and the Rose Center for Earth and Space.
The Columbus Avenue BID is responsible for developing a wholly sustainable streetscape with Manhattan’s first bioswale between West 76th and 77thStreets. For 10 years, it has produced and hosted Taste of the Upper West Side and is responsible for streetscape beautification efforts that include landscaping, lighting, solar-powered trash receptacles, and more.
