Katten announced today that it has signed a long-term lease for approximately 125,000 square feet of office space at 50 Rockefeller Plaza located in Midtown Manhattan.
Beginning in spring 2022, Katten will occupy five floors in the 15-story building located near the legendary Radio City Music Hall, the storied NBC Studios, the popular Top of the Rock® Observation Deck and the famed Rink at Rockefeller Center.
“The move to a new office space in New York’s iconic Rockefeller Center is very exciting and will be another attractive aspect of Katten New York that helps us draw and retain top talent,” said Chris DiAngelo, managing partner of Katten’s New York office. “This relocation also will offer our attorneys, staff and clients a high-quality work environment at a premier destination.”
Built in the 1930s, Rockefeller Center is the original urban campus in the heart of New York City. As an iconic destination, it combines commerce, culture and community and brings together New Yorkers and visitors. 50 Rockefeller Plaza is an Art Deco-style structure formerly known as the Associated Press Building, which originally housed the news agency’s headquarters for decades. A distinctive part of the building is the stainless steel sculpture by artist Isamu Noguchi titled “News” located at the main entrance as a tribute to journalism, one of more than 100 permanent works of art, that with high-profile public exhibits make Rockefeller Center one of the world’s biggest indoor/outdoor museums.
As a new tenant of Tishman Speyer’s 50 Rockefeller Plaza, all Katten employees will have access to ZO, its innovative and comprehensive suite of amenities and services for all those who work at its buildings throughout the world. Katten’s New York office will be the firm’s second location to offer the diverse assortment of ZO amenities. As landlord of Katten’s Chicago headquarters, Tishman Speyer has provided firm employees there with the exclusive tenant amenities package.
Katten expanded its New York presence in 2002 when it merged with Rosenman & Colin LLP. The firm’s New York office, currently at 575 Madison Avenue, has more than 200 attorneys and is Katten’s second largest location behind Chicago.
Katten was represented in the transaction by its partners Scott M. Vetri and Andrew L. Jagoda, Chief Administrative Officer Daphne V. Pendleton, former counsel Andrew C. Wu and associate Scott A. Hovanyetz, as well as Cushman & Wakefield’s Executive Vice Chairman John Cefaly, Executive Vice Chairman Robert Lowe, Executive Managing Director Jon Herman and broker Evan Algier. Tishman Speyer was represented in house.
