Avison Young Wins Big at IFMA New York City 2020 Awards for Excellence Ceremony

The New York Chapter of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) honored Avison Young with three awards for design and construction, environmental impact and corporate volunteerism at the IFMA New York City 2020 Awards for Excellence Dinner held recently at The Plaza.

Avison Young New York’s Project Management Divisionreceived the Design & Construction of a New Facility Awardfor its work on the National Basketball Players Association’s (NBPA) new facility at 1133 Avenue of the Americas. The Project Management Division oversaw the buildout of the NBPA’s 45,000-square foot office space, state-of-the-art physical training facility and regulation sized basketball court.

“We are thrilled thatIFMA recognized Avison Young with three awards and are especially proud that we were honored for our work on the very exciting NBPA project,” said Kirsten Beck, Principal and Vice President of Project Management for Avison Young New York. “This was a challenging assignment which took three years and multiple phases to complete. We strive for excellence in all of our projects and it’s very rewarding to have those efforts recognized.”

Jill Daniele, Milrose Consultants, presented Avison Young with theDistinguished Environmental Company of the Year Award, noting thatAvison Youngfocuses on Sustainability and Wellness within the global framework of its AY Global Citizenship Program,leading by example and setting an enviable precedent.

“Building Efficiency Standards where AY occupies space include LEED Silver, Gold and Platinum, BOMA Best, Energy Star, and Wired Certification,” Daniele said. “In 2018, with the help of external consultants and their delegated office champions, data collection indicated a 5 percent reduction in energy usage, an 8.3 percent reduction in greenhouse gases, and a 17.4 percent reduction in water usage since 2017.”

Matt Poveromo, Waldner’s Business Environments, presentedAvison Young’s New York officewith theDistinguished Chapter Volunteer – Member Corporation Awardbecause of its outstanding commitment to IFMA.
