Bloomingdale’s Furniture is coming to the Samanea New York Mall in Westbury, Long Island.
Bloomingdale’s, Samanea, and real estate brokers Colliers International and Ripco Real Estate made the joint announcement, stating the retail legend is leasing just under 25,000 square feet of space with an anticipated opening in the Spring of 2020.
Samanea New York Marketing Director David Ackerman, stated, “In welcoming Bloomingdale’s this announcement underscores the power of our property; strategically located within Nassau County’s retail corridor, within an easy drive for millions of people who enjoy a high median income and who own homes they want to enhance. We look forward to a Bloomingdale’s ribbon cutting later this year which, in turn, strengthens our continued reinvention of the former Source Mall.”
Originally opened in 1997, the property is undergoing a multimillion dollar renovation by Samanea New York that meets the demand of the 21st Century consumer while remaining the home to legendary names such as Fortunoff Fine Jewelry, the Fortunoff Backyard Store, and the Cheesecake Factory.
Samanea’s Director of Leasing, Dominic Coluccio, stated, “The promise of the Samanea Mall in Westbury is now being realized as this world famous retailer calls our location home. At a time when new Long Island home owners are being joined by those moving into new rental units and co-ops, Bloomingdale’s Furniture’s arrival at the Samanea Mall could not have been better timed.”
Representing Samanea in the transaction was Matthew Kucker and Jordan Baruch of Colliers International while Brian Schuster of Ripco Real Estate represented Bloomingdale’s Furniture.
Matthew Kucker, a Director at Colliers reminded, “Bloomingdale’s Furniture has long recognized that this location is at the epicenter of the region’s retail activity. With extensive renovations underway, ample onsite parking, and adjacent parkways, Samanea Mall was an obvious choice for a tenant that seeks to connect with its customer base.”
Mr. Ackerman concluded, “Bloomingdale’s Furniture is a dynamic reminder that our focus of home furnishings and décor sourced from around the globe, while offering traditional retail, outstanding dining and entertainment is now underway at Samanea Westbury.”
