Rockefeller Center today introduced a new retail initiative, RC Capsule, bringing together the best of retail, real estate, and technology. The program offers independent brands the unique ability to lease turnkey, pre-wired spaces for six-month terms and work with Rockefeller Center to create one-of-a-kind retail experiences in the heart of New York City. RC Capsule’s collaborative approach provides ultimate flexibility for brands to test retail concepts while minimizing the risks associated with traditional long-term leases. The spaces are simple, clean and art deco in style, a reference to the Center’s history and architectural design, and can be tailored to meet the needs of any brand. Fashion and lifestyle brands STEVEN ALAN and JILL LINDSEY have signed as the first new tenants of RC Capsule - JILL LINDSEY opens today, and STEVEN ALAN on Friday.
“Rockefeller Center is among the most coveted addresses in the world, and our dynamic mix of restaurants, fashion and lifestyle stores provides New Yorkers the best retail experience in Manhattan. RC Capsule only extends that further – creating a new, digitally-driven shopping platform that brings our favorite innovative new concepts to life for our tenants and New Yorkers alike” said EB Kelly, Tishman Speyer Managing Director overseeing Rockefeller Center. “We are thrilled to welcome STEVEN ALAN and JILL LINDSEY to Rockefeller Center and offer people who work or visit here a bespoke and unique shopping experience.”
Steven Alan is a New York City native who opened his first eponymous apparel store in 1994. For over two decades, Steven Alan has been a curator of independent labels for men and women from around the world and has created a globally recognized brand that is quintessentially New York and subversive by design. Steven Alan will open at 30 Rockefeller Plaza on 6th Avenue and will offer men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, home goods, jewelry, and wellness products.
“Growing up in the city, I’ve spent a lot of time in the area and I thought it would be a lot of fun to do a capsule installation at such an iconic New York institution,” said Steven Alan. “I’m excited to be participating in this new vision for Rockefeller Center.”
Brooklyn-based JILL LINDSEY’s brand emphasizes local craft, trend-forward fashion, and home goods, as well as earth-friendly skincare. The new 30 Rockefeller Plaza on 50th Street location will offer a selection of apparel, accessories, jewelry, and skincare products, nearly all of which are made in New York.
“I am beyond excited to partner with Rockefeller Center, it is a small business dream come true!” said Jill Lindsey. “JILL LINDSEY is a perfect complement by being a woman-founded community-driven business showcasing local makers and artists, sustainable products, supportive health and wellness services and connection.”
Tishman Speyer developed RC Capsule to be market-responsive and ever-changing, bringing highly curated merchandise from the highest-quality online and boutique retailers to the world-class retail spaces in the architecturally and geographically unique Rockefeller Center.
