Happy July! New York in the summertime is known for a lot of things and one of them is trash. New York is full of people and people create trash and despite the city’s relentless regimen of street cleaning, it remains full to the gills of trash, and during the summer this is even more noticeable than during other seasons because not only can you see and touch it with your feet, you can also smell it.

Enter The Periodic Table of NYC Trash.

It’s a new Kickstarter from Brooklyn graphic designer Teddy Blanks and New York Times writer Molly Young. It’s a poster that catalogs the trash of New York, breaking the detritus down into categories like: apparel (broken umbrella), hygiene (bottle of pee), vices (tiny drug bag), beverages (deli coffee cup), lifestyle (dismembered bicycle) and others.
